This DVD presents the complete history of the ocean superliner SS United States - the fastest ocean liner ever built - as depicted in a series of three classic films. Built between 1950 and 1951, the SS United States made many transatlantic crossings and earned the Blue Riband for the fastest average speed for a transatlantic crossing. She was retired in 1969 and is currently moored in Philadelphia, owned by the SS United States Conservancy - a group attempting to save the ocean liner from being scrapped.

Film #1 - Building New Superliner United States - You'll see rare footage of the construction of the huge liner at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company in Newport News, Virginia. Witness the laying of her keel in 1950 to her festive launch in 1952.

Film #2 - The Superliner United States...At Your Service! - Come aboard the 53,000 ton 990-foot flagship of the United States Lines for a complete tour of this magnificent vessel.

Film #3 - The Little Giants -A behind-the-scenes look at how a fleet of Moran tugboats dock the SS United States in New York Harbor. Two rare television commercials featuring the United States and short film on the famous Canadian schooner Bluenose II and a prototype design for an "unsinkable boat" are also included.
