This early 1970's film is about naval carrier flight operations - the launching and recovery of aircraft aboard a fast moving carrier and all the things that go on in the background to make it all happen.
The film presents all aspects of carrier operations and manned tactical aircraft from Naval Air Force Atlantic. There are many cat shots showing deck hands at work in launching a wide variety of aircraft:
- F-14 Tomcat
- F-8 Crusader
- S-3 Viking
- SH-3 Sea King
- A-7 Corsair II
- E-2 Hawkeye
- F-4 Phantom II
- A-6 Intruder
We see P-3 aircraft in flight and taking off to help cover the fleet and watch for icebergs. Anti-Submarine Warfare helicopter operations are shown as well. Behind the scenes operations such as simulator training and maintenance are also covered.
In NTSC DVD format, B+W with a runtime of about 20 minutes. Packaged in either a clear plastic CD-style jewel case or a clear plastic C-Shell DVD case without paper graphics.
