B-17 Time WWII Bomber Flying Fortress DVD
The Boeing B-17 WWII bomber was so heavily armed with (13) 50 cal. machine guns that the nickname "Flying Fortress" was bestowed on this rugged aircraft. This iconic aircraft was instrumental in winning World War II. Only a handful of B-17s have been restored and are operational. We'll see three of them, including a ride on a B-17. Thanks to the quality of modern video and audio gear, the viewer can now experience the B-17 on an entirely different level.
Highlights include:
- August 2016 video of flights in Valparaiso, Indiana with "Nine-O-Nine".
- "Aluminum Overcast" doing flights in Cincinnati, Ohio during 2014.
- Take a ride on "Liberty Belle", an aircraft that was later lost to fire.
- See portions of the 1943 "Memphis Belle" B-17 documentary, the first B-17 to complete 25 missions.
- A few cameo appearances of other aircraft during the Nine-O-Nine segment.
- Engine starts, taxi shots, take-offs, fly-overs and landing scenes.
- Approximately only 12 operational B-17s at this time - so they are rare.
- A few exterior scenes of "Liberty Belle" in additional to flying in the aircraft.
