Description

The Grumman F-14 Tomcat DVD is a collection of vintage films on the Grumman F-14 Tomcat - an American carrier-capable supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, twin-tail, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft. The F-14 was the first of the American "Teen Series" fighters, which were designed incorporating air combat experience against MiG fighters during the Vietnam War.

Film #1 - F-14 Progress Report 1972 - A Grumman film on the F-14 Tomcat being readied for Navy squadrons. Amazing drop tests of the F-14 at the factory are included, plus the aircraft are put through testing. Runtime is about 11 minutes.

Film #2 - Sea Legs - A training film on the F-14 Tomcat and other aircraft daily functions aboard the USS Nimitz CVN-65 and the CV-66 and 67. Take-offs and landings plus maintenance aboard the carrier on these aircraft. Runtime is about 14 minutes.

Film #3 - Grumman F-14 Tomcat - A great short story about Grumman's development and use of the F-14 Tomcat. Runtime is about 11 minutes.

Film #4 - No Points for 2nd Place - A Navy Top Gun training film that shows how Naval aviators practice their "dog fighting" skills. Introduces the F-14 Tomcat as the Navy's newest and greatest air superiority aircraft at the time. This film also includes a short cartoon on "Tomcat the Pilot" to show tips on how to be number one. Runtime is about 9 minutes.

Film #5 - Grumman Tactical Aircraft - The five aircraft that Grumman created or modified as major Naval Tactical aircraft were the F-14 Tomcat, the A-6 Intruder, E-6 Prowler, the E-2 Hawkeye and the E-111 Raven. Runtime is about 12 minutes.

Film #6 - All Weather Aircraft - Aircraft such as the F-14, F8U Crusader, and others are demonstrated aboard American carriers such as the CVN-65, the CV-66 and others. Runtime is about 16 minutes.

Film #7 - Recruiting a Fleet Sailor - A USN recruiting film showing how one can join the Navy and travel, plus, if lucky enough, work on the flight deck of an American carrier with the mighty F-14 Tomcat. Runtime is about 10 minutes.
