Film #1 - First Fighters of New Guinea - This rare color film was taken by LtCol Ken Gerrish who served with the 8th Fighter Group in Australia and Papua, New Guinea from 1942-1944. He also wrote the narration for the film. Great P-39 Airacobra and P-38 Lightning footage. Japanese attacks on Milne Bay. See abandoned Japanese Zero fighters and Betty bombers at the Lae Aerodrome. Gen. Kenney decorating offices and men in Port Moresby. Engine change for a P-38 and P-38s taking off and returning from missions. B-25s taxiing and taking off. Flight in a B-17 over New Guinea. Film #2 - 49th Fighter Group - Filmed in Port Moresby, New Guinea in January 1943, shows the Forty-Niners jungle base, P-40 Warhawks taxiing and taking off. Also, B-17 and B-24 landings. P-40 fighters in the air. P-40 pilots of the 49th Fighter Group. Run time of 22 minutes in B+W.
Film #3 - Ace of Aces - Major Richard Bong, America's WWII "ace of aces" receives the Medal of Honor from General Douglas MacArthur in December 1944. Also, P-38 footage and some gun camera film. Run time of 2 minutes in B+W.
Film #4 - Famous Fighters of the USAAF - This film shows the 347th Fighter Group pilots who shot down Admiral Yamamoto (the architect of the Pearl Harbor attack) on April 1943 while the Admiral was on an inspection tour of Japanese bases in the Solomon Islands. Pilots Rex Barber, Tom Lanphier, Besby Holmes, and John Mitchell are shown near their P-38s and there is a description of the mission from several of the pilots. Run time of 9 minutes in B+W.
Film #5 - 347th Fighter Group Gun Camera Film - This color gun camera film from 347th Fighter Group P-38 Lightnings shows the strafing of targets on the island of Borneo in July 1945 in additional to several aerial dogfights. Run time of 10 minutes in color.
Film #6 - Allied Air Forces at Moratai - Color film showing Australian Beaufighter and Mosquito aircraft at their airstrip at Moratai Island in New Guinea. Run time of 4 minutes in color.
Film #7 - Appointment in Tokyo - This documentary film is the story of the war in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945 - Corregidor to Tokyo. It also includes captured Japanese film. Run time of 57 minutes in B+W.
