This Hawker Sea Fury DVD video covers the Hawker Sea Fury fighter-bomber that was designed during WWII to meet high performance specifications for the RAF and Royal Navy. When the war ended, design and development continued for the Royal Navy. Ultimately, almost 900 of these aircraft were built, most serving in carrier-based roles with the Royal Navy well into the 1950s.
In the UK, the Royal Naval Historic Flight (RNHF) operates ex Fleet Air Arm aircraft to perpetuate the historic lineage of aviation at sea in the Royal Navy. The flight members, although of modern Navy, are justifiably proud of their charges and derive considerable satisfaction from their role as keepers of part of the nation's aviation heritage.
This DVD was made using one of the RNHF's Sea Furys. It is narrated by Richard Baler OBE, who was a Naval Officer from 1943-1946 and went on to serve for many years in the Royal Naval Reserve reaching the rank of Commander RNR.
This great Sea Fury DVD contains modern and archive film, portraying the many aspects of this, the most powerful of all piston engined fighters.
A detailed walk around highlights the elegant lines and brute force of the Hawker Sea Fury. Lots of cartridge start-ups, take-offs, powerplant details, aerobatics, Korean War carrier footage plus a very special air displayed filmed totally from in the cockpit (with full narration from the pilot with airspeeds, maneuvers and altitude!)- absolutely stunning!
Approximately 90 minutes running time in NTSC DVD format.
