Description

Fairchild Republic A-10 DVD.

The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is a close support aircraft that could kill tanks and survive. It was designed during the Cold War to counter the massive Soviet tank buildup in Europe. The A 10 Thunderbolt was designed around the 30mm GAW rotating "Gatling Gun" that fired depleted heavy uranium bullets that could easily destroy tanks on the modern battlefield. Thus, the A-10 Warthog was born.

Film #1 - Intro to the A-10 - A Fairchild film that introduces the A10 warthog and explains the need for the A 10 in Europe. Runtime is about 8 minutes.

Film #2 - A-10 Fuel Tank Experiments - The USAF was concerned that the A-9 and the A-10 aircraft would catch on fire if hit by a 23mm round. So, tests were done to resolve that issue. Runtime is about 8 minutes.

Film #3 - The A-10 and the Gun - A USAF film on the A10 Warthog gun. The gun used on the A10 is the 30mm GAW electric Gatling Gun which fires depleted uranium bullets at a high rate. Runtime is about 10 minutes.

Film #4 - Desert Storm - A DOD film on the war with Iraq in the late 1990's (Desert Storm). The A-10 Warthog plane was heavily used in this conflict. Runtime is about 28 minutes.

Film #5 - Refueling the A-10 in Flight - USAF footage of KC-10s and KC-135's refueling the A-10 Warthog. Runtime is about 7 minutes.

Film #6 - Myrtle Beach and Afghanistan - This is a combo of footage of the A10 Thunderbolt stationed at Myrtle Beach AFB practicing takeoffs and landings to gun runs in Afghanistan. Runtime is about 15 minutes.

Total runtime for the A10 dvd is about 76 minutes. Format is NTSC DVD and region-free.
