The Fight For The Sky ETO P-38 P-47 P-51 WWII DVD contains many World War II era films that focus in on P-38, P-47 and P-51 fighter groups based in the European Theater of Operations. Six films in color and B&W are included.

Film #1 - RAF Eagle Squadrons 1942 - This film was shot at the Debden airfield in England during the ceremony where three RAF squadrons that were manned by Americans were transferred to the US 8th Air Force in September of 1942. Run time of 13 minutes in B+W.

Film #2 - The Fight For The Sky - Documentary showing 8th Air Force fighters (P-38, P-47, and P-51) against the Lufwaffe in the European Theater of Operations. There is lots of air, gun camera, and ground footage. Run time of 34 minutes in B+W.

Film #3 - Eight Air Force Aces - Film showing the major 8th Air Force aces and their planes as well as some gun camera footage. Aces include: Captain Charles P. London (78th Fighter Group), Captain Donald S. Gentile (4th Fighter Group), Captain Robert S. Johnson (56th Fighter Group), LTCOL Francis S. Gabreski (56th Fighter Group), Captain Fred J. Christensen (56th Fighter Group), Major George E. Preddy (352nd Fighter Group), Captain John B. England (357th Fighter Group). Run time of 36 minutes in B+W.

Film #4 - 56th Fighter Group Gun Camera Film -  The 56th Fighter Group was nicknamed "Zemke's Wolfpack" after commanding officer Hubert "Hub" Zemke. The 56th flew P-47 fighters, which initially had problems against the Luftwaffe due to their poor climb rate and slow acceleration rate. Zemke, however, stressed the strengths of the P-47 (excellent dive performance and rate of roll) and thus turned the P-47 into a positive weapon. This rare gun camera footage is in color and was taken from the fighters of Col. "Hub" Zemke, Lt Col David Schilling, and Lt Col Francis Gabreski, and others. Run time of 18 minutes in color.

Film #5 - Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! - This film tells the story of the British Air Sea Rescue Service which rescued downed allied fliers that ditched in the Channel. The service used Consolidated Catalina PBY amphibious flying boats in their work. Run time of 18 minutes in B+W.

Film #6 - News Events of the 8th Air Force - This film shows British Boer War veterans visiting the 8th Air Force Service Command and the RAF anti-fog oil lit emergency airfield in Graveley. Run time of 5 minutes in color.

Total run time for The Fight For The Sky ETO P-38 P-47 P-51 WWII is about 2 hours. Format is NTSC DVD.
