st Generation of Navy Jets DVD

The 1st Generation of Navy Jets DVD covers the 1st generation of Navy jets to land on aircraft carriers. Seven films cover the following aircraft: FH-1 Phantom, Douglas Skyknights, F2H Banshee, F6U & F7U Cutlass, Grumman F9F and the FJ Fury.

st Film: Carrier History - A great short story of naval carrier history. From the first aircraft carrier - Langley - testing old biplanes to the great carrier battles of WW2, to the developing carriers of the Jet Age. Run time is about 29 minutes.

nd Film: FH-1 Phantom - A USN training film on the first jet developed to land on a carrier in 1947. The McDonnell FH-1 Phantom formed the first Navy jet squadron. Run time is about 12 minutes.

rd Film: F3D Skynight - A USMC film on the Douglas F3D Skynight. The Skynight was developed as a night fighter and was very effective in the Korean War. Run time is about 8 minutes.

th Film: F2H Banshee - The McDonnell twin engine F2H Banshee was a major improvement of the FH-1 Phantom. It was heavier, faster, was built in much larger numbers. The Banshee was also one of two heavily armed carrier jets used very effectively in the Korean war. Run time is about 10 minutes.

th Film: Vought F6U Pirate & F7U Cutlass - Vought built the amazing F4U Corsair and was known for innovative design for the Navy. They built one of the first Navy jets in 1946, the F6U-1 Pirate. Then, in 1951, they built the radical and amazing F7U Cutlass. However, the one flaw of the F7U Cutlass was its high angle of attack with a very long nose landing gear and it was under-powered as well. This made for some dangerous landings. Run time is about 9 minutes.

th Film: Grumman F9F Panthers and Cougars - In 1947, Grumman created the F9F straight wing Panther. This Jet was heavily used in Korean War. In 1952, Grumman put swept wings on the F9F frame and was renamed it as the F9F-6 Cougar. The Cougar did not serve in the Korean War, but was used in the USN Blue Angels. Run time is about 14 minutes.

th Film: FJ Fury - The North American FJ Fury was a naval version of the famous F-86 Sabre, aka The MIG killer. This film collection is about the FJ Fury being reviewed by USN test pilots. Run time is about 10 minutes.

Total runtime for the 1st Generation of Navy Jets DVD is about 92 minutes. Format is NTSC DVD and region-free.
