The relentless advance of the U.S. Navy across the Pacific led Japanese military leaders to urge acts of desperation. In 1944, a new and terrifying weapon, the kamikaze or suicide plane, made its debut. The results would be devastating. Thirty-four American ships would be sunk by 'kazes, and nearly 5000 sailors killed, including 724 lost when the carrier USS Franklin was struck in March of 1945. Yet America's commitment and strength proved indomitable, and the war would end aboard USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.
Featured on this DVD are seven rare films showcasing America's carrier fleet during the critical final months of WWII. This includes a rare full color film about the Franklin and the "Fleet That Came To Stay".
