Boeing CH-47 Chinook Heavy-Lift Helicopter Disc 2 DVD

This DVD is Disc 2 of a collection of films and newsreels on the famous Boeing CH-47 Chinook. The Chinook is a tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter that was designed as a troop transport carrier, artillery emplacement and battlefield re-supply aircraft . Designed by Boeing in the early 1960s, it was so successful that it is still in production today and used all around the world. Over 1100 aircraft have been built and they are used all around the world - what an amazing aircraft.

Film #1 - The Versatility of the CH-47 - This is a great US Army film by the Boeing VSTOL Dept. showing the many uses of the Chinook. From a sling of cargo to massive internal loads, the Chinook can do almost every aerial maneuver the Army needs, even land in water to unload troops and boats! Runtime is about 15 minutes.

Film #2 - Interview with Colonel Ben Silver - This is a great short interview with Colonel Ben Silver on the deployment of the 1st Cavalry - 228th Helicopter Assault Division to Vietnam. Runtime is about 3 minutes.

Film #3 - AH-47a Chinook Gunship - An Army film on the details of the armed Chinook including rockets. In 1965, five CH-47a's were converted into gun ships and were assigned to the 1st (Air Mobile) Cavalry, 228th Division. Eventually they were sent to Vietnam for testing. Runtime is about 29 minutes.

Film #4 - CH-47a Chinook in Vietnam - In 1966, a CH-47a was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Air Mobile Battalion in Vietnam. This film shows the many uses of the Chinook from delivering artillery pieces to delivering trucks, jeeps and even slinging damaged UH-1 helicopters. The Chinook was indispensable. Runtime is about 13 minutes.

Film #5 - CH-47 Chaparral Missile System - An Army Technical Training film about Air Mobility system of the Chaparral Missile platform and how the CH-47 is used to relocate the Missile unit when needed in the field. Runtime is about 20 minutes.

Film #6 - Operation Dewy Canyon - An Army film showing one of the last major military campaigns in Vietnam. Starts off with F-4 Phantoms bombing enemy targets followed by massive use of the CH-47 Chinook and the USMC CH-46 to carryout this campaign. Also great footage of the CH-53 Stallion. Runtime is about 28 minutes.
