| The Restorers DVD is a documentary video about warbird and vintage aircraft restorers. This film, which has aired on PBS, has also won an Emmy Award for Best Special Programming 2004.
This film showcases many people of varying backgrounds who devote a major portion of their life and finances to restoring rare, antique aircraft. Most of the older aircraft one sees at an airshow were found as wrecks and heaps of rusting parts. Many aircraft often haven't flown in over 75 years and are in the worst of condition. Only after devoting years of mostly volunteers’ time and a lot of cash do these planes become flight worthy once again. These people can range from ordinary working folks to businesses that specialize in warbird reconstruction.
Many antique aircraft perform at today's airshows and races worldwide. How did all those aircraft get there? How did they survive all those years? What type of person does it take to sink sometimes millions of dollars and years of their life into a plane that may be just a footnote in history? The Restorers attempts to answer this question.
In NTSC DVD format, color with a runtime of about 60 minutes. |
